From the director who brought us the original ‘Princess Diaries’ and the romantic comedies ‘Pretty Woman’ and ‘Runaway Bride’ comes the sequel, ‘Royal Engagement’.

We last saw Mia (Hathaway) learning the ways of royalty and becoming settled into her new way of life with her devoted grandmother Queen Clarisse (Andrews). She went back to college to finish her studies and now returns on her to take on her role as the Princess of Genovia, but to her chagrin, she is informed that she must become the Queen.

To make matters worse, she discovers that in order to take the crown she must be married. It is an old Genovian law and she has just thirty days to comply. Having just got into the swing of enjoying the life of a princess she now faces losing everything if she does not find herself a suitable husband within a month!

Unfortunately Mia’s quest for a suitable king is not without its problems. She certainly isn’t without suitors, but will any one of them suit her?

If you enjoy a romantic comedy this one is a delight, and is an entertaining follow-up to the hugely successful original.

Zoom In

Anne Hathaway, who was named after William Shakespeare’s wife, is highly regarded by director Garry Marshall, who says of her, "The multi-talented Hathaway is a combination of Julia Roberts, Audrey Hepburn and Judy Garland” Anne is busy working on a number of projects at the moment, the first being ‘Havoc’, a very different role than the one she portrays in ‘Princess’ as she and a friend become involved with Mexican drug dealers. The second is Ang Lee’s somewhat controversial ‘Brokeback Mountain’, a tale of two cowboys and the people they meet. Well, with roles like that she certainly won’t get typecast.
