‘Shrek 2’ takes us to the magical Kingdom of Far, Far Away, which looks very similar to the modern day Hollywood, including it’s very own Farbuck’s Coffee.

Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) and his bride, Princess Fiona (voiced by Cameron Diaz), return from their Honeymoon to her homeland, where Shrek is to be introduced to his wife’s parents, King Harold and Queen Lillian (voiced by John Cleese and Julie Andrews). There is, of course, one small problem, unfortunately, for our favourite ogre, Shrek is not Fiona’s parents idea of the perfect husband, and they are more than a little shocked to see who is standing by their darling daughter’s side, and further more of their daughter’s now slightly fuller figure. So much so that they begin to scheme and plot a way to get rid of him! Fiona’s parents aren’t the only ones to be a little disappointed, Fairy Godmother is also rather irate, as it was her son, Prince Charming (voice by Rupert Everett), that was supposed to free Fiona from the dungeon.

The King decides that he needs to take control of his daughter’s situation in order to protect her, as well as protecting his own interests at the same time! Together with Fairy Godmother (Saunders) they seek the services of the legendary ogre slayer, Puss-in-Boots (Banderas), to put a stop to Shrek’s happily ever after ending. Banderas is absolutely hilarious as the voice of Puss-in-Boots bringing the character to life with a Zorro persona.

The voice work, is spectacular, especially from Eddie Murphy, who is back again as the motormouth Donkey, who loyally stands by his friend and companion Shrek, even if he doesn’t want him there!

‘Shrek 2’ is an animated masterpiece for people of all ages, just as funny as ‘Shrek’ and will have everyone laughing out loud. It’s just as good, if not better than the first.
