| This
is a story of an unlikely couple who's paths cross under extraordinary circumstances,
as though they are destined not only to meet, but to save each other's lives,
not once, but twice. |
While
pursuing a suspect one night, tough and uncompromising Chicago Police officer
Sharon Pogue, (Lopez) nearly becomes the victim of a fatal ambush, until
a mysterious stranger, Catch (Caviezel) intervenes and saves Sharon's life.
But Sharon and Catch have met before, when she was the first arrival at
an accident and managed to keep him alive until the emergency services turned
up. And as they fall in love, they discover the truths about each other,
and are forced to deal with the secrets from their past. |
Assigned
to a high-crime area, Pogue is in danger on a daily basis, but her dedication
does little to compensate for the fact that she has no personal life. Estranged
from her family since she arrested her father for beating up her mother,
and disconnected from life in general, she fills her life with work.
Catch is living his own half-life. A strange, haunted soul who sleeps in
an empty apartment, he spends his days dispensing little gifts of goodwill
to anyone in need. But Sharons personal life is coming to a crisis point,
her parents are back together, and so happy that they are planning a big
party - but she's not invited. |
The
two leads fit nicely into their roles, as Lopez arrests "perps"
with such heavy handedness, that you feel she could take on Mike Tyson,
and Caviezel has such a haunted and ethereal look that it seems that he
could float out fo the picture at any time, but 'Angel Eyes' seems a little
too calculated as a vehicle for Lopez, and ultimately a little unsatisfying.
