‘A Cinderella Story’ is the delightful modern-day story of Cinderella, the children’s novel by Gail Carson Levine. Set in San Fernando Valley, this is the tale of a young girl, Sam Martin (Duff) who lives happily with her father. Unfortunately Sam’s father dies, and her stepmother and stepsisters arrive to take over her father’s diner and make Sam do all the hard work in running it.

Sam is not the most popular students at college, and has a slightly ‘dorky’ reputation amongst the ‘cool kids’, the coolest of which is the wealthy Shelby Cummings, who is both spoiled and superficial.

But Sam’s luck is about to change, as does her appearance when she suddenly undergoes a major makeover. When a mysterious guy finds Sam’s mobile phone, a rather unexpected friendship begins to blossom, which, as they begin to correspond more frequently, soon develops into an exciting romance. With a modern-day twist, however, all correspondence takes place via text and email, but with the big Halloween school dance fast approaching the pair plan to meet face-to-face for the first time. What Sam doesn’t know is that the guy is Austin (Murray), the coolest guy in school, and Austin in unaware that the lady he is now meeting at the Halloween party is Sam
