The wild and wacky world of Angelina Jolie, Tomb Raider
OLIVER O’NEIL/PLANET SYNDICATION

Predictable maybe, but who can blame the press for speculating when it concerns an actress, whose romantic life began at 14 (she and her boyfriend lived “like a married couple” for two years at her mother’s house).
Then, at 19, she met first husband Jonny Lee Miller. They married and separated within the year.
At 20, Jolie was in love with “somebody who happened to be a woman.”
“I didn’t flirt with girls,” she explains. “I just noticed this woman in a sexual way. I had feelings for her and wanted to be close to her. The reality is, I love people. If Billy was a woman, then I’d be a lesbian.” Angelina has been very open about her bisexuality.
“I wanted people to know that I’d been with a woman,” she says. “I spoke about it because I had discovered something wonderful and I thought people should know my experience was very real, very normal.”
On-screen, Angelina had her first lesbian sex scene in “Foxfire.” After making “Gia,” she stated that she had loved the lesbian scenes with co-star Elizabeth Mitchell. “Elizabeth hadn’t done a love scene before and she hadn’t been with a woman before,” she said at the time. “I had done those things, so I was looking forward to kissing her and touching her and watching her discover that and hopefully, enjoy it. I think she did. I become more romantic with women. I love women. Anything that felt that good couldn’t possibly be bad.”
“Lesbian sex scenes isn’t one of the things that make me feel awkward,” says Angelina, who in “Original Sin” plays a sex-obsessed female who enraptures Banderas.
There is no female-on-female sex in the upcoming film, although Banderas has some male-on-male activity. “But there is some serious erotic stuff,” she offers, eyes twinkling.
Angelina is a woman who likes to stir things up. “I really haven’t done those kind of scenes before. People think I have, because of my reputation, but the only time I did below-the-waist nudity was in “Gia.” If they don’t cut, it’s going to get one hell of a rating. I don’t know how people are going to react to it. They’re probably going to think I’m out of my mind and sexually… They already think I’m a sexually wacko: I’m sleeping with my brother, and I’m dating other men than my husband, and I’m also a vampire…”
She insists that she has only slept with four men in her life and thinks it is funny that people think she is “a sex machine.”
Well, maybe it has something to do with her fascination with violence during sex?
“Oh, I haven’t touched a knife in a really long time – I don’t need one,” she answers. “When I didn’t feel anything - being violent and getting into S and M was a need. I feel enough now for my husband that I don’t need to attack him to feel him.”
Jolie has never regretted being open to the press about her sexuality, but she feels sad that the passionate kiss she planted on her brother’s mouth before saying “I’m so in love with my brother” at the Oscars has been so misinterpreted.
“It was stupid and sad because it was a normal love between siblings. It was a moment where I was so amazed (by winning the Oscar), and to be there with my brother, who had supported me always and was the person happiest for me, was amazing. People were freaked we kissed on the mouth but a lot of people do. It was pure love.” A pause, then she adds, “The thing is that if I were sleeping with my brother, I would tell people I was. People know that about me.”
In person, Angelina comes across as an intelligent, direct and fearless woman with a quick wit and a sense of playfulness. Despite her wild and wacky image, she seems as normal as the next person. Just more beautiful and with a love for the dramatic. Maybe she should be a little less vocal in the future?
“My responsibility is to my work and what the films say,” she answers, not pleased with such a suggestion. “It’s not my responsibility to have a personal life that everybody’s comfortable with.” She concludes with a laugh, “There are people who want me to be clean, simple package, and I don’t understand that. I always thought that actors were supposed to be kind of crazy.”
